Obituary of TIMOTHY LEE ALEXANDER

Timothy Lee Alexander, 67, passed away peacefully at home on November 28, 2021. Family and friends are heartbroken. Born on July 22, 1954 to Norma and Tom Alexander, Tim was a lifelong Santa Rosan and proud of his Swiss Italian heritage. After graduating from Santa Rosa High School, Class of 1972, he started selling shoes for Joseph Magnin. He moved on to train at Tate’s Shoe Repair in the early 80’s and later bought the business. This was the beginning of Tim’s passion for fine shoes, boots and leather. Customers have called him “wizard”, “magic shoe cobbler” and “shoe angel”. Tim was a master craftsman who helped his clients by handmaking needed lifts and rebuilding their leather treasures. He loved the camaraderie of neighboring businesses and sharing stories with his friends and customers. He took pride in his work, seven days a week, until his collapse in his shop last month. Sadly, 2022 would have been the 100th Anniversary of the Tate business. Everyone will miss Tim. Besides family and friends, shoes and leatherwork, Tim loved sports. He was an avid Giants fan. He also loved poker, gambling, history, fishing and nature. Tim was preceded in death by his parents and brother Tom Alexander. He is survived by brother Dan Alexander, longtime companion Sherrie Kane, and sisters-in-law Sharon and Louise Alexander. He loved his nephews and nieces: Zachary, Eli, Danielle and Lauren; and God-daughter Katie, as well as Christopher and Ben. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Donations can be made in Tim’s honor to Forgotten Felines of Sonoma Co, 1820 Empire Industrial Ct, Suite E, Santa Rosa 95403 or a charity of your choice.
