Obituary of Carlos Anthony Bland

Carlos Anthony Bland (aka Tony), 58 years old, of Santa Rosa, CA, passed away on September 18, 2020 in Santa Rosa, Ca. Maude Elizabeth & Charles Oliver Bland were married March 1962 and to this union, Carlos Anthony was born, September 5, 1962, in San Francisco, CA. Raised in the church, he was baptized at Community Baptist Church at a young age. He went to high school at Piner High School in Santa Rosa, Ca. and graduated in 1979. He enlisted in the US Army February 8, 1989, and retired with honorable discharge as a Food Service Specialist in Stuttgart, Germany September 21, 1996. During his deployment, Carlos specialized in Food Service, Primary Leadership Development, and HazMat Management. Decoratons, Medals, Badges and Ribbons he received; Achievement Medal (1st OLC), Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), National Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, and Army Service Ribbon. He returned to the US in late summer of 1999. Once back in the Bay Area, he worked as a security guard for approximately 3-5 years. He enjoyed a wide array of things. Traveling, cooking, all types of music, even DJ'd for a while and played guitar, loved kids, a good gamer, watching horror movies and riding his bike. Carlos is survived by his 4 Children; Porsha Bland, Oakland, Ca., Douglas Townsel of Audubon, In., Chantelle Walden, Ruston, La., and youngest son Kevin Bland of Rohnert Park, Ca. 1 brother James E. Morell of Santa Rosa, CA., 2 sisters Monica Bland, Rhonda Bland; 3 Aunts; Deatrice Gosha of Sacramento, Ca., Lavella Bland and Barbara Bailey of Ca., 6 beautiful Grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by both his Mother and Father. The family wishes to express great gratitude for those that loved and cared for Tony just as much as we do. We appreciate the love and support thank you for being a part of his life and paying your respects.
