Obituary of Katherine Pisesky

The family of Katherine Pisesky is heartbroken to announce her tragic passing in a car crash near Santa Rosa, California.  Katherine is loved by all and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and colleagues.  She was a truly charming, beautiful person with a joyful spirit that touched everyone who knew her.

Katherine graduated from the University of Alberta with a BSc (90) and a BScN (97).  Katherine’s calling was as an emergency room nurse.  After working in ER in Banff and Canmore, Katherine embarked on a career as a traveling nurse accepting assignments all over North America.  In 2007, she was assigned to a hospital in Santa Rosa, loved it and was invited to stay and settle in the area.  She nursed in various hospitals in the area while studying for her MScN (Alabama 2012) to become a Nurse Practitioner. Katherine loved her work with her patients and her colleagues, and they loved her!

Katherine explored six continents practicing as a Nurse/Nurse Practitioner and was an avid scuba diver and adventurer.  She was a Master Diver and photographer who used these experiences to enjoy new cultures and meet new friends. Her most recent travels took her to Malaysia, Indonesia, Kenya and Mozambique.

Another of Katherine’s passions were her pets!  Her “children” were her two black pugs, Winston and Lennie, and her two cats, Bernard and Nelson.  Katherine’s friends in Santa Rosa have adopted her furry friends.

Katherine will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Sharon and Rudy Pisesky, her sister, Leann Kleckner, her brother-in-law Dean Kleckner and her nephews, Eric, Tyler and Marc Kleckner.  Kat will be sorely missed by her many relatives, friends and colleagues all over the world.

The family would like to express its heartfelt thanks to the first responders, trauma doctors and nurses who provided comfort and care during Katherine’s last hours.

Memorial service will be on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Community Church of Sebastopol; 1000 Gravenstein Hwy North in Sebastopol.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Alberta, Faculty of Nursing, to establish a Graduate Award in Katherine’s name for a student studying to become a Nurse Practitioner.  Donations can be mailed to:
