Violet passed away on September 16, 2018 in Santa Rosa. Dearly beloved wife of 60 years of Paul Chappell; dear sister of Otis Parrish, Ronald Parrish and Vivian Wilder; also survived by her adopted children Rick Parrish and Monica Crespo and numerous nieces, and nephews; preceded in death by her parents Essie and Sidney Parrish; siblings Earnest, Pearl, Bernice, Clifford Sr., Warren Sr., and Vana. She was a second mother of many of her nieces and nephews.
Violet received her degree in Early Childhood Education and worked at Task Pre School on the Kashaya Rancheria, the School Board, the California Education Association of California, and the Sonoma County Indian Health Board. She was a consultant for many years with the California Archeologist, cataloging Kashaya Historical Sites in Sonoma County and giving lectures to school children. Violet was fluent in both Kashaya and Point Arena Pomo languages. She loved beading and making necklaces, and making baskets out of native materials. She had an extensive knowledge of her family geneology
Family and friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Thursday , September 20, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Eggen & Lance Chapel, 1540 Mendocino Ave, Santa Rosa.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Community Center on the Kashaya Reservation, Stewarts Point, Interment to follow.
