Obituary of Diane C. Burt
Diane Carol Burt was born to R.D. Burt and Viola Burt on September 3, 1958 in Santa Rosa. She departed this life on May 10, 2018. Diane was the daughter of one of the first African American business owners in Sonoma County, R.D. Burt. Diane’s father started his company in the 60’s migrating from their home in San Francisco to a ranch in Windsor. Diane spent her early childhood years in the Fillmore District of San Francisco, CA where she attended Golden Gate Elementary. Diane attended Windsor Middle School, and Healdsburg High School for a semester then transferred to Piner High School in Santa Rosa where she graduated as an Honor Roll student. Following her High School career, she attended Santa Rosa Junior College where she graduated with an AA. She later moved to Oakland and transferred to Hayward State University, (East Bay University). She was a leader of the Black Student Union all throughout high school and college. After graduating college, she then started working at IRS as a Tax Agent for a length of time. She later realized her aspiration as an Entrepreneur and started her own Tax Preparation and Book Keeping Agency, “In The Black Inc ” which later became “Burt Hilliard and Associates”. She had a wide range of clientele all over the bay area drawing a high demand which made her company a true success. Diane loved God and was a strong woman of faith. She was a true Christian and believed that God can use anybody at any given time. From childhood, Diane attended Community Baptist Church and later joined The Way Deliverance & Outreach Ministries, (Five Fold Apostolic Ministry) in Santa Rosa, CA. She accepted her call and was Licensed in 2014, in Sonoma, CA and was Ordained as a Minister in 2015. Minister Diane fought a long battle with an illness and lived an eventful life full of love and laughter. Her wisdom and nurturing spirit will be missed. God called his strongest soldier home May 10, 2018. She was preceded in death by her dad, R.D. Burt, her mother, Viola Burt, her brothers, Arthur Putney, William Putney and George Putney. Her sisters, Barbara Burt Smith and Doris Putney. She leaves behind to cherish her son, Charles Hilliard, Santa Rosa, CA and her brother Richard Burt, Calistoga, CA and a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
