Obituary of Craig Thompson
Craig Cowan Thompson, age 81, passed away May 23, 2018 in Santa Rosa, California. He was born June 2, 1936, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to Robert Reese and Annette Wilcox Thompson. Craig was a 1954 graduate of Oshkosh High School. He attended Northwestern (Evanston), was a member of Chi Psi Fraternity and completed his undergraduate degree in Communications. He attended USC for graduate studies in Radio, Television and Film. In 1968 he married Jewelle Donohue (nee Thompson) and adopted her son John. Craig began his career in radio advertising in Monterey and his daughter Hilary was born in 1970. The family eventually settled in Los Osos, CA from 1976 to 1991 where Craig worked in radio station management as well as mortgage lending in San Luis Obispo County. In 1991, Craig and Jewelle moved to the Santa Rosa area where Craig focused his career in marketing, business development, and advertising sales. Jewelle passed away in 2008. Craig married Rochelle "Shelly" Hummel (nee DeMars) in 2013. Craig attended the Methodist Church steadfastly and was involved in many committees of the church. He was a long term member of the SCOOP club in Santa Rosa where he enjoyed the comradery of lively weekly business meetings. He was an avid reader and explorer of new ideas and information. He enjoyed watching college sports, socializing, listening to many kinds of music, connecting new people to the First United Methodist Church, working on family genealogy, helping plan the local annual "Wisconsin Picnic," and spending time with family. Craig had a gregarious and friendly style and truly loved meeting new people. He is survived by: his wife Shelly, his son John, his daughter Hilary, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
