Peter “Pete” Christian Carstens
August 1, 1935 – August 3, 2023
Loving husband, father and Opa went to be with Jesus on August 3, 2023, at the age of 88.
Peter was born Peter Sievertsen, in the small town of Bredstedt Germany. He was adopted by Alma and “Willy” Carstens and became Peter Christian Carstens.
On December 10th, 1951 he came to the United States under the sponsorship of his Aunt and Uncle at age of 16.
On January 5th, 1954 he enlisted in the U.S. Army. After basic training at Fort Ord, CA he was stationed in Aschaffenburg, Germany for 18 months. He was transferred to Fort Riley, Kansas where he finished his tour of duty. During his stay at Fort Riley he became a U.S. citizen on Dec 22, 1955.
After his discharge he returned to Sonoma County where he married and had two children. He later moved to New Jersey to learn the carpentry trade.
He returned to Santa Rosa where he met and married his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Lorraine Kincheloe. Retiring, they moved to Lake County. “God’s Country”, as he called it. He enjoyed fishing for hours on his boat. He also loved sports, especially soccer and ice hockey. He remained in Lake County until his passing.
He is loved and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine, mother Alma, father “Willy”, brother Gunter, son Jimmy, daughter Frances, sons-in-law David and Keith and granddaughter Stephanie.
He is survived by his loving children Tim Carstens, Debbie Hagen, Sandra Lewman, Patty (Jeff) Swanson and Julie Kincheloe. Ten grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Also, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, many who are in Germany.
Funeral Services will be held at Eggen and Lance Chapel in Santa Rosa, CA on Thursday August 17th, 2023, at 1:00 PM. Burial to follow at Santa Rosa Memorial Park.
