Maureen Ann Latimer passed away on January 15, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Warren Latimer, with whom she had a loving marriage for over 53 years. She was the proud mother of Elizabeth (Liz) Garbocci, Kathleen Ely, Caroline Latimer, John Latimer, and Mark Latimer, and grandmother to Ryan, Jennifer, Robert, Ashlin, Ethan, Julia, Patricia, Claire, and Emily. She was great-grandmother to Madison, Rylee, Mia, Gwyn, and Griffin. Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Helen Foley of Spokane, Washington and by her brother, Thomas Foley of Washington, D.C.
Maureen was born and raised in Spokane, Washington. She was the youngest member of an extended Irish clan. She was a graduate of Holy Names Academy High School and the San Francisco College for Women. She married Richard Latimer on August 20, 1960, and they settled in Santa Rosa where her husband taught at Santa Rosa and Piner High Schools for over 30 years. In 1978, Maureen joined the Sonoma County Personnel Department (Human Services) and retired in 1997 as a Senior Personnel Analyst.
Maureen was a member of the Spokane Junior League, served on the Sonoma County Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council, the Sonoma County In-Home Support Services Advisory Committee and the Sonoma County Association of Retired Employees.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 in Oakmont at Star of the Valley Roman Catholic Church in Santa Rosa at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Santa Rosa.
