Mary Linda Wilson
Linda Wilson passed away peacefully at Cloverdale Healthcare Center, on August 25, 2023, just three days after turning 83.
Linda was born on August 22, 1940, in Pasadena, CA. to Willis and Barbara Wehr. She was the second of three sisters. As a child she enjoyed horseback riding, and she enjoyed writing. Among her writings she wrote poetry. Linda attended Westside Union School District and Antelope Valley High School in Lancaster, California, graduating in 1957.
After graduating, she fell in love with and married Sammie Wilson and together they started a family that would grow to include three boys, Daniel, David, and Dale. Linda was a wonderful homemaker, extraordinary mother, and provider. Throughout the years, Linda earned her LVN in 1959 from Antelope Valley Junior College, and later owned the Atlantic Richfield gas station in Calistoga from 1969 through 1970. Linda worked at various hospitals over the years, Lancaster Community Hospital, Calistoga Convalescent Hospital, Manzanita Manor, and Santa Rosa Memorial.
She and Sammie loved to travel more than anything with the Redwoods being her absolute favorite place to camp. With her comforting, gentle nature, and skills from nursing, she was able to care for Sammie at home for years before his passing in 2010.
Linda loved books, clowns and collecting all sorts of things. She continued to travel. She was easy-going, caring and had a curious, sharp mind. She was an avid reader and Scrabble player, enjoyed playing along with Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and most of all, she adored her four grandchildren and her five great-grandchildren.
Linda is survived by her sister, Penny Burris of Weiser, ID, her sons, Daniel (Joy) Wilson of Mount Juliet, TN; David (Joanne) Wilson of Cloverdale, CA; and Dale (Nancy) Wilson of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Joshua Wilson of Tacoma, WA; Samuel Wilson of Lincoln, NE; Nicole Humber of Windsor, CA; and Tyler Ramirez of Sebastopol, CA; and the children of these grandchildren.
Services honoring Ms. Linda Wilson will take place on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Fred Young Funeral Home, 428 N. Cloverdale Blvd. Cloverdale, CA 95425 at 11:00am.
