In Loving Memory Of

Marcy Jean Russey

1927 ~ 2026

Marcy Jean Russey died peacefully at her home in Santa Rosa, CA on Friday, August 7, 2026. Marcy was born on June 4, 1927 in Merkel, Texas to Herman Lee Abernathy and Allie Mae Bright. She grew up alongside her four sisters and one brother, beginning a life that would ultimately span an incredible 99 years and touch generations of family and friends.

Marcy married the love of her life, Jim Russey on August 10, 1946 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Together they shared 74 years of marriage and built a beautiful life and family.

Marcy is survived by her three sons, Lynn, Gary and Steven Russey. Her family continued to grow with four grandchildren, Justin, Shae Lyn, Travis and Chris, and six great-grandchildren who brought her tremendous joy.

Anyone who knew Marcy knew that she was the life of the party. She was quick-witted, classy, dressed to the nines, and beautiful in every way. She had a wonderful way of making life feel like something worth celebrating

– and she was always ready for the next one!

Whether it was a vacation, Bridge days with the girls, a birthday celebration filled with Tonk and Chicken Foot dominoes, or simply gathering together with the people she loved, Marcy knew how to have fun. Above all, she treasured her family gatherings and Happy Hour was always welcome. As Marcy would say, “It’s 5:00 some-where!!”

Fourth of July festivities held a particularly special place in her heart. The Russey home became a gathering place filled with friends, family, laughter and of course plenty of games. These were the moments Marcy loved-A full House! The people she cared about gathered together and another memory being made.

Marcy lived her 99 years with style, humor, love and an unmistakable zest for life. She leaves behind generations who will carry not only her memory, but the traditions, stories and love she gave so freely.

On August 7th, Marcy was welcomed Home and reunited with the one and only love of her life and together they dance once again forever in the Kingdom of Heaven.

The Russey family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Tima and Niko for the many years of devoted caregiving, kindness and genuine love they showed their beloved Marcy. The care and companionship they gave her meant more to our family than words can express.

And we will be forever grateful.
