It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Lucy Oceguera from Windsor, CA, who passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025 at the age of 89.
Born on July 11, 1935 in Guanajuato, Mexico, Lucy and her family then moved to Santa Ines, Michoacan in 1942.
In 1951 Lucy met the love of her life, Santiago Oceguera. They married on November 6, 1957 and had 7 children.
Lucy was a loving and devoted wife and mother to Sally, Maria, Terry, Luz Elena, Martin, Jimmy, and Erica. She cherished her role as a mother and instilled in her children the values of faith, the importance of family, respect, and kindness. She was a constant source of love, support, and encouragement, always putting her children’s needs before her own.
Beyond her role as a wife and mother, Lucy was also a cherished grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
The love and the bond that Lucy shared with her grandchildren is something that they will forever cherish in their hearts.
Lucy had a passion for gardening, and spent many happy hours tending to her beautiful flowers. She was also an active parishioner at Our Lady of Guadalupe church and sang on their choir for many years.
Those who knew Lucy will remember her for the way she made everyone feel loved and valued, and how she ensured there was always food on your plate, even if your belly was full. Her kindness touched the lives of many and she was loved and admired by those that knew her. Her home was a sacred place where family and friends were always embraced with warmth, love and laughter.
Lucy is survived by her 7 children, Sally Nevarez (Steve), Maria Rodriguez (Jorge), Terry Calzada (Mario), Luz Elena Oceguera (Javier), Martin Oceguera, Jimmy Oceguera, and Erica Palacios (Fabian), 8 grandchildren, 20 great- grandchildren and 4 sisters.
