June Michiko Fujihara

June 30, 1930 – December 3, 2025

June Michiko Fujihara passed away at home on December 3, 2025, surrounded by the love and presence of her family. Born on June 30, 1930, in Watsonville, California, June lived a long and meaningful life marked by resilience, quiet strength, and deep devotion to those she cared for.  She is preceded in death by her husband Frederick Fujihara, parents Frank and Kimiko Hiura, brothers Bob Hiura, Lloyd Hiura, Clarence Hiura, Paul Hiura.  She is survived by brothers David Hiura and Daniel Hiura, sister Pauline Kunimune, and sisters-in-law Takako, Grace, Yuri, and Janice.

In 1942 during WWII, June was sent to the Poston Arizona Interment Camp with her parents and brothers.  After the war, she attended Junior College and earned an AA Degree.

June moved to San Francisco, where she began the next chapter of her life. In 1952, she met the man she was destined to marry, Frederick Satoshi Fujihara, a student at the University of San Francisco Dental School, getting ready to graduate. They married on June 21, 1953, and together, they built a life in Sebastopol, where Fred established his dental practice and June supported him with her steady presence and administrative abilities. Their partnership was one of mutual respect, shared purpose, and affection.

They built a warm and loving home, welcoming three children. June’s lifelong dream of being a wife and mother was beautifully fulfilled, and she cherished her roles as a homemaker and mother, finding joy and purpose in caring for her family.  Her children, son Deric (Pina), daughters Jone, and Sheryl (Norman Osaki), carry forward her kindness, her wisdom, and the deep sense of care she instilled in them.

In her later years, June faced the challenges of congestive heart failure with remarkable strength, a determination to overcome and a “hang in there” demeanor. Even as her health declined, her spirit remained steady, strong and with grace. She passed away on December 3, 2025, surrounded by her family, held in the same love she had given so freely throughout her life.

June will be remembered for her gentle spirit, generosity, infectious smile, and the way she made others feel seen and cared for. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched—her family, her friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Her family will honor her life in a private ceremony in early 2026, holding close the memories, lessons, and joy she shared over her 95 years.
