Juana Dolores Quevedo
June 9th, 1934 ~ May 5th, 2025
A Mother, Daughter, and known to most as Lita. Born in Santana, El Salvador on June 9th, 1934, not June 19th as incorrectly documented on her paperwork into the United States. Juana was the middle child of Juana Francisca Aguilar. In her teenage years, she expressed to her mother that she would like to become a seamstress. Her mother then put her in a school specializing in this skill. From this school, she developed skills to last a lifetime. She became married in 1952, and had her first-born Oscar Juan Carlos in 1953. Soon after 1956, she had her daughter Anna Betsy. In 1963, she made the brave decision to leave her life in El Salvador behind and give her family a better life in the United States. Being a seamstress helped her get her first job in San Francisco, where she mended uniforms for the San Francisco Giants and the San Francisco Seals Hockey team. Even though she left her family behind in El Salvador, she was blessed enough to be able to form a new family and group of friends with Al-Anon. She was part of the St. Peter’s Parrish in San Francisco where she taught Catechism for many years and gained her most cherished friendships. She later joined St. John’s Catholic Church where she expanded her circle of friends. Juana had an adventurous soul with a passion for traveling. She would join her family on vacations to Disneyland, Hawaii, and Canada. Then would also go on her own adventures to the Holy Land, Rome, and El Salvador. She was a grandmother to seven, and a Great Grandmother to eight. Throughout her life she made a point to be involved in all her family’s special moments and major events. Juana was a very strong and independent woman. Even at 90 years old, her ability to remember people, dates, and events was extraordinary. Her fortitude, sacrifices, and faith laid the foundation for her family to continue her legacy, and we will cherish her memory for the rest of our lives.
