John Lavelle

November 08,1939 – October 02, 2023

John Lavelle went home to be with the Lord on October 2, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer. John was preceded in death by his father, Carl Lavelle, his mother Priscilla Lavelle, his brother Jerry Lavelle, his brother Mickey Lavelle, his father-in-law Lonnie White and his mother-in-law Rosie White.

John is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 57 years, Pat Lavelle, his son Andy (Joanne) Lavelle, his granddaughters Rosie Lavelle, Trinity Lavelle, Haley Barker, Jessica (Marcos) Altamirano, Danielle (Scott) Nelson, and six beautiful great-grandchildren.

John was born on November 8, 1939, in Oroville, California and eventually moved to the Bay Area. He graduated from DeAnza High School in 1958. After high school John joined the United States Air Force and served four years. After the Air Force John moved to Concord and enrolled in Laney Trade School in Oakland. He went through the apprenticeship program to become an auto body technician.

In 1966 John and Pat were married. In 1969 they moved to Santa Rosa where they established their home for the next 52 years and John continued to work at his trade for over 40 years. After retiring from the body and fender trade John drove a parts truck for ECO auto parts. His route took him to Fort Bragg and Willits 3 days a week. That was a drive John really enjoyed. He did that for 5 years then retired again.

In 2021 John and Pat moved to Vacaville to be near Andy and his family.

A memorial service for John will be held on Saturday, November 18th at 1:00pm at Hessel Church in Sebastopol. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in John’s name to Valley Church, Rooted Campaign, 5063 Maple Road, Vacaville, CA 95687. (855-774-7223)
