Jack & Carole Rackerby

Jack & Carole, longtime residents of Santa Rosa, have been reunited in heaven after
celebrating 70 years of marriage. Carole passed away June 22, 2023, and Jack, a Navy
Veteran, passed on March 23, 2026.

Carole was born Carole Martin in Susanville in 1933 and grew up in Chico. Jack, born in
1932 in San Francisco, grew up in Santa Rosa. The two met at SRJC in 1951 when Carole
was a nursing student (and cheerleader) and Jack was studying animal husbandry (playing
football and was Student Body President). They married in 1953. They briefly lived in Clovis
before returning to Santa Rosa to make it their permanent home. Jack built their forever
home on the Rackerby Ranch where they resided until their deaths.

Their lives were full of family, philanthropic work, and travel. Carole was a nurse at Santa
Rosa Memorial Hospital for over 35 years and Jack was a teacher at the Santa Rosa City
Schools. Jack taught biology, speech and drama over his 36 years at Santa Rosa Junior High
and High School.

Their love and commitment to each other is an inspiration to all. As they grew older, you
would see Jack singing to Carole and always holding hands. They loved to dance, and they
are now again together, dancing.

They are survived by 5 children, 12 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Santa Rosa Memorial Park Rotunda on April 8th at High Noon.
