Ida Mae Janet (Hanson) Box passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023, at the age of 93, in Santa Rosa, Ca.  Ida was born on March 19,1930, in Gregory, SD, to Nils and Myrtle Hanson, the eldest of six. The family moved to Minneapolis, MN where she grew up and attended school. Ida especially enjoyed ice skating and sledding in the winter months with her siblings. Ida married her high school sweetheart Robert Box on May 5, 1950, in Ukiah, Ca. They settled in Santa Rosa, Ca where Ida was an executive secretary at Bank of America. Ida was a very accomplished wife and mother, raising their four children and kept a beautiful home. Bob and Ida faithfully attended Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, where she served in children’s and women’s ministries. Ida’s faith radiated in her daily life. The love of the outdoors led Bob and Ida to build a cabin in Plumas County, where they spent many years sharing it with family and friends. Ida was always knitting, crocheting or sewing. She brought life to countless dolls and teddy bears, even creating her own label “Bears by Boxhaus”. She loved music and dancing the polka, teaching all the grandchildren “It’s just a quick two step!”. Her laugh was infectious and she truly enjoyed life.

Ida was preceded in death by her husband Robert Box, her parents, 5 siblings, and a great-granddaughter. She is survived by her children Gary (Naomi), Shelley (Allen), Joanne (John) and Renee (Mike). She also leaves 11 grandchildren, Benjamin, Jonathan, Silas, Deric, Jessie, Andrea, Aaron, Jared, Eric, Kristen, Steven, 17 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
