Eugene (Geno) Ralph Franceschi

              October 14, 1935 –January 14, 2024

Geno Franceschi passed away on January 14, 2024.  He was 88 years old, and a life-long Sonoma County resident.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Geno was born in Healdsburg, California on October 14, 1935.  His parents were Tony and Linda Franceschi.  He was the second of four children- Richard (deceased), Julie, and Lloyd.  Geno’s early years involved working on the family’s ranch on Westside Road where they produced hops, prunes, corn and green beans for the commercial market.

Geno married his wife, Sandy, on September 24, 1960, in Reno.  The couple celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary last September.  Geno served for six years in the National Guard.  He worked in the construction trade and became a building contractor.  He volunteered in the Forestville Fire Department for 28 years and served for 13 years as a director.  He was Scoutmaster for the Forestville troop where both of his sons became Eagle Scouts. In addition, he served as a Little League coach.  Geno, along with his two brothers, was elected Forestville Citizen of the Year in 1987.

After retiring from construction, Geno and Sandy traveled in their motor home throughout most of the western states, and as far East as Branson, Mo. He loved metal detecting and showing off his latest finds.  He spent many days at the family cabin in Lake Tahoe and was also a frequent visitor to several casinos locally and in the Tahoe/Reno area. You could often find him tending to his backyard garden. He especially enjoyed spending time with his five grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Sandy, his sons Don (Elena) and Mark, and his daughter, Lisa Sartori (Rocky).  He is also survived by his grandchildren Joey, Marina, Ean, Anna (Kevin) and Tony, along with his brother Lloyd (Tomasine) and his sister Julie Richardson.
