David Scott Boyce passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on September 14,1946, in Seattle, Washington, David lived a life of service, dedication, and quiet heroism, much of it rooted in the skies above us.
A decorated Army helicopter pilot who served with honor in the Vietnam War, David continued a life of aviation in service to others. He worked as a police officer for the Port of Seattle and Arizona Department of Public Safety, as well as at Air Services International in Arizona, Alex Air in Hawaii, before relocating to Sonoma County, where he would spend the majority of his life. He spent 12 years flying for the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department as a pilot for Henry 1. He retired from Cal FIRE, as a Forestry pilot at Bear Valley Helitak Base where he worked for 17 years. Over the course of his distinguished career, he logged more than 14,000 flight hours-a testament to both his skill and his deep commitment to helping others.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Maureen Keegan Boyce; his children, Zach Boyce (Carrie) and Penny Narduzzi (Eric); and his grandchildren, Taylor Boyce, Tanner Boyce, Vivian Narduzzi, and Leonardo Narduzzi. He was deeply loved and will be remembered for his courage, humility, and quiet strength.
David’s legacy lives on not only in the lives he saved and protected from the air but also in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held to honor his memory on Veteran’s Day, November 11th, 2025 at Iron and Vine Restaurant, Bennett Valley Golf Course from 1:00pm-4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations be made in David’s name to Sutter Care at Home Hospice, Santa Rosa.
