He served in the US Airforce from 1950-1954. With his wife, Nancy, he had a large family: Sharon (Merlin Lawson), Linda Mauritson, Cathie (Pat Horne), Debbie Henthorn, Julie (Jimmy Jennaro), Billy Henthorn, and Laurie (Jim Brooks). Bill was predeceased by his wife, Nancy, daughter, Debbie, and son, Billy. With his 2nd wife, MaryAnn, he raised three more little girls, Kelley (Tom Parsons), Vicky (Ross Robinson), and Heidi Newfield. He was predeceased by MaryAnn in 2004. His legacy consists of 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren, as well as a host of good horses, born & raised under his care for approximately 70 years. His true love in life was a good horse or mule under saddle, riding with his old best friends, Vic, Jim, and Wayne.
We are so grateful to Marguerite for filling his last months with humor and activity, and Brookdale Windsor Assisted Living for all the love and care a facility could possibly give. Hospice By The Bay provided the needed comfort for Bill during his last days. A BIG thank you to all! In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to The Ben Black Memorial Scholarship Fund through Healdsburg High School or to the Hospice By The Bay.
A private graveside ceremony will be held Monday morning. The Celebration of Life will be held Monday, Mar. 24th, at Julie & Jimmy Jennaro’s home, from 1pm to 4 pm. Call or text 707 953-4228 for address.
