Robert J. “Bob” McMurtrie

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bob McMurtrie, our loving father, brother, grandfather, and friend on July 3, 2022.  Bob was born on November 17, 1939 in Hibbing, Minnesota and was raised in Santa Rosa, California by his parents Eva and Walt McMurtrie.  He raised his family in Fremont, California and later resided in Walnut Creek, California. Bob retired to Blairsville, Georgia in 2004 which is where he lived at the time of his passing.

Bob was the beloved father of two sons, Robert McMurtrie and Ron McMurtrie (Amy) and a daughter Kim Graham (Jeff).  He was a proud grandfather to McKenzie (Adam), Jack, Ellie, Owen, Brandon and Natasha and great grandchildren, Easton and Emrie. He is also survived by his two siblings, Danny McMurtrie and Jeanie McMurtrie, both of Santa Rosa.

Bob lived a full life. After graduating High School, he began a long, successful career as a mechanic in the San Francisco Bay Area. He was happiest when he as working with his hands and was always eager and willing to help his neighbors, friends, and family.  Bob also loved animals and cared for any that came across his path.  Nothing made Bob happier than spending time with his family, his time with his companion Shirley Laughner, and his pride for his children and grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on July 30th, 2022 2pm, at Santa Rosa Memorial Park.

Eugene Murphy


Eugene Murphy

June 11, 1942 – July 1, 2022

Eugene “Gene” Murphy lost his battle with cancer on July 1st, 2022, with family by his side.

Born June 11, 1942 in San Francisco’s Mission district, where he was raised. Gene attended St. James grammar school and was a graduate of Mission High. Summers were spent on the beach in Monte Rio, where he also served as a lifeguard from 1958 to 1962. He was very proud of the fact that no one ever drowned on his watch. He joined the San Francisco Fire department in 1971 and served 35 years before retiring as a Lieutenant. Gene was blessed to have celebrated his 80th birthday with his family and friends.

He will be missed by his wife, Debi and sons John (Jackie) and Willie. Step-son, Phil (Brooke) Coberly. Also survived by his sister Eleanor Gerigk. Four grandchildren: Johnathan, Alyssa, Chandler, Tristin. Four great grandchildren: Camille, Weston, Gracelynn and Beckham, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his father Edward J Murphy, mother Eleanor Wall, brother Edward Murphy and brother-in-law Bernard Gerigk.

A Memorial/Rosary service will be held Monday July 11, 6pm – 7pm at Eggen & Lance (visitation starts at 4pm), 1540 Mendocino Ave., Santa Rosa.
A funeral at Eggen & Lance, July 12th, beginning at 11am, followed by a burial service at Santa Rosa Memorial Park, 1900 Franklin Ave., Santa Rosa. A reception to follow at Eggen & Lance.

Angela “Gayle” Trahan departed this life on May 23, 2022.  Angela was born January 31, 1955, to the late Thomas Marshall Trahan, Sr., and Constance Jean Broussard Trahan.

Angela leaves to morn her four (4) children:  Ernest Wayne Henderson Jr., Austin Thomas Henderson (Hannah), Zenikia Henderson Blocker (Octavis), Anthony Lamar Turner, Sr.  The loves of her life her grandchildren: Josiah Henderson, Isaiah Henderson, Treyvon Henderson, Ariana Barber, and Cali, Lil Austin Henderson, Jr., Tasia Henderson, Octavia Blocker, Heru Blocker, Yasmine Turner, Mya Turner, Anthony Turner, Jr., and Regatt Turner. Siblings: Thomas Marshall Trahan, Jr., Erin Trinell Trahan-Lopez, Stella Trahan Nettles, Ida Trahan-Bell (Charles) Moses Broussard, Dwight Broussard, Christine Broussard, Linda Broussard. Special friend of many years Betty Grant and Anthony Cape. Host of nieces (Birdie), nephews (Armari), relatives and friends.

Angela known to all as Gayle was born in Port Arthur, Texas and moved to Sebastopol, California at the age of 12 years to reside with her grandparents:  Alton and Mary Broussard.  Gayle touched the hearts of many and always said she loved you she will be missed.

Neola Cox Finch



Neola Cox Finch

December 7, 1931 – July 1, 2022

Neola Cox Finch passed peacefully on July 1, 2022 in Santa Rosa, CA at the age of 90. Born to John Edgar Cox and Virginia Streed Cox on Dec 7, 1931 in Calipatria, CA, Neola was raised in a humble farming family and traveled back and forth from Illinois to California. After high school she enrolled in Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in San Diego CA where she met and married her husband Frank Finch. Unable to complete her nurses training then, and after having 7 children and moving the family to Santa Rosa CA in 1971, she later enrolled in SRJC, graduating as an RN in 1975. She worked for the State of CA, first at Sonoma State Hospital, then moving near Sacramento to work for the CA Dept. of Public Health Licensing Division, until retirement. In Neola’s free time she enjoyed reading, nature, classic movies, traveling, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

Preceded in Death by her Husband of 61 years, Frank Charles Finch, siblings John Cox, Arthur Cox, Lucille Cox, son Charles Michael Finch, and grandson Paul Frank Finch. Survived by her children Linda (Finch) Crowley (Joel), Tim Finch (Kathy), Tom Finch, John Finch (Linda), Peter Finch, Daniel Finch (Caron), and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Special thanks to the care given by Valley View Care Home, Our Home, and Anchor Health Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.


Family and friends are invited to attend the services at Eggen & Lance Chapel; 1540 Mendocino Avenue in Santa Rosa.

Augustine T. Delgado

October 07,1932 — May 05, 2022

Augustine T Delgado, 89, of Monte Rio died Thursday in Monte Rio.

Mr. Delgado was a native of Holcomb, Kansas.  He had lived in Monte Rio since 1994 and previously lived in Redwood City, California.

He was a land surveyor in the construction industry for 34 years.  He enjoyed going on daily walks with his dog, was an avid reader, liked to socialize with people, shared many stories and life lessons, spent time gardening, fishing and camping and enjoyed feeding the birds.

He is survived by his son, Thomas Ambrose of Belmont; his sibling, Gloria Delgado of Fairfield.  He is preceded in death by; his parents, Jesus and Loretta Delgado, his sister Ruth D. Espinoza and his brother, Raymond Delgado.

On June 28, 2022 a Rosary will be given at 9:30 am followed by a Mass at 10:00 am at the Cathedral of St. Eugene in Santa Rosa. Burial will be at 11:30 at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Santa Rosa.

Josephine R. Schrum

August 22, 1923 – June 6, 2022

Josephine R. Schrum, age 98 passed away on June 6, 2022 in Morgan Hill, California. Josephine was born August 22, 1923 in Guanajuato, Mexico. Josephine became a United States citizen in 1961. Josephine worked for Raytheon for 16 years and retired in 1983. Josephine was volunteer with Council on Aging in Healdsburg for 16 years, until 2005.

Josephine is survived by her five children and their families. Rosalind Shigemi, Dolores and Martin Smallen, Pete and Martha Mirande, Mary Cortez, Beatrice and Darrell Couzens, her younger sister, Tiburcia Marquez and family. Josephine is survived by 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Josephine is survived by stepchildren, Allan and Claire Schrum, Joseph Schrum, and their families.

Services will take place at St. John’s Catholic Church at 208 Matheson Street in Healdsburg on Friday June 10, 2022, beginning with a viewing at 11:00am and mass at 12:00pm followed by a burial at Oak Mound Cemetery, 601 Piper Rd, Healdsburg, CA. Private reception to follow.

Harvey Leonard Davis Jr.

December 31, 1965 – May 8, 2022

Harvey Leonard Davis Jr. was born in Norwalk, Ct on December 31st, 1965; New Years Eve to the proud parents of Nayda Young and Harvey Davis Sr. Harvey Jr. spent time in Vietnam; El Paso, Texas and St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. He grew up in San Francisco and attending Balboa High School. He eventually, moved to Santa Rosa, California where he has resided since.

Harvey truly cherished every moment of his life and had a love for family, friends, food, and The Dallas Cowboys. He had a passion for creating and he loved all dogs and cat. To know Harvey is to love him. He had a strong presence, hearty laugh, deep voice and a strong hug. He was the most loving and supportive man with a compassionate heart for all.

Harvey is survived by his 4 children: Sheavon Williams, Michelle Davis, Faith Davis, and Joseph Davis. Parents: Nayda Young and Harvey Davis Sr. 4 grandchildren: Eva McCray, Amire Fleming, Chase Aaron, and Zoey Jones. Sisters: Debra Young and Kathleen Davis. His Uncle David and a “gang” of nieces and nephews.

Harvey is proceeded in death by his grandmother, Ida Naomi Young; James Young; and great niece Stephanie “Rochon” Wilson.

Visitation service is on May 26th, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. following the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Eggen & Lance Chapel.

Marilyn Elizabeth Voynick Coffee

November 11, 1933 – April 30, 2022

Elizabeth Coffee (Liz) died at home on April 30, 2022. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary Shermetta Anthony and Stanley Carl Anthony, siblings Carl Anthony and Marcia Glaser, daughter Liza Beth Voynick, first husband Joseph Voynick, Sr., and husband James D. Coffee.

She is survived by children Tamara Voynick (Paul Saletan), Joseph (Josh) Voynick Jr. (Candice), and Stanley Voynick; grandchildren Amelia Voynick Saletan (Antonio de Andrade do Carmo), Benjamin Saletan Voynick (Samantha Tynes), Lily Voynick, and Colin Voynick; step-children Elizabeth Coffee (Tim Weber), Pamela O’Connor, Lexi Coffee (Kurt Sederman); step-grandchildren Sheehan and Rowin O’Connor and many dear friends.

Liz grew up in Linden, New Jersey, and graduated from Katherine Gibbs Business School in New York City. She went to work for American Cyanamid in New York City, and then married Joe Voynick in 1953 when Joe returned from his second tour in the Navy. The couple lived and worked in Florida for a couple years before returning to New Jersey. Liz stopped working when Tamara was born in 1957, and Josh was born in 1958. In 1961 the family moved to Phoenix. Stan was born in 1963 and Liza in 1967.

Liz began evening classes at Phoenix College in 1965 and graduated with an A.A. degree as valedictorian in 1970. She worked in the Admissions Office at Phoenix College after graduation and served in the Maricopa County Community College system for 7 more years, including time as the Director of Admissions at the new Rio Salado Community College. During this time Liz earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Vocational Education from Northern Arizona University. As part of her work with the community college system she counseled and encouraged Native American students about participating in Health Occupation programs and visited reservations to promote these programs.

Liz earned her real estate license and sold homes for a few years before continuing her career in higher education as an adjunct professor at the University of Phoenix. She very much enjoyed the interactive style of teaching at the UoP and in the 1990s taught some of the first online classes. Liz retired from the University of Phoenix.

Liz met Jim Coffee in Phoenix and they married in 1994. They moved to The Sea Ranch in California and enjoyed friends, volunteer work, projects, and watching the sunset together each evening until Jim’s death in September, 2021.

We will remember Liz’s fierce love for her family, her advocacy for and dedication to children and education, her sense of style, and the generous way she accepted people into her heart. We will miss her and will always remember her and her passions.


Louis Manning Jr.


Louis Bernard Manning Jr.

May 28, 1980 – April 20, 2022

Louis attended and graduated from Wil C. Wood High School. He loved riding motorcycles, martial arts, rugby, was a phenomenal cook, and loved his family deeply.

He is survived by his wife Melissa Manning, mother Deralyn Tarpley, father Louis Bernard Manning Sr., sister Patricia Manning,  brother Chris Thompson, sons Tejon and Austin, and daughters Jewel, Julianna, and Adriana. He was preceded in death by his daughter Alessandra Manning.

His outgoing personality and laughter will be missed by all who loved him.

A visitation will be held on Saturday May 7, 2022 at 10am. The funeral service will commence at 11am and with a reception to follow at Eggen & Lance Chapel, 1540 Mendocino Ave. Santa Rosa, CA.


Michael A. Gordon


Michael A. Gordon

September 23 1954 – May 1 2022

Michael was born in San Francisco, CA to Joseph and Eileen Gordon. He was the youngest of 7 Children. He leaves a son, Joseph, and brothers, Rod, Barry, Kit and his sister Carmon. He joins his sisters Eugenia and Sandra in Heaven. Michael resided in Santa Rosa, CA for the last 32 years. He will be remembered for his dancing, laughter, and his caring heart.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. following the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Eggen & Lance Chapel; 1540 Mendocino Avenue in Santa Rosa. Reception to follow at Eggen & Lance’s reception hall. Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Catholic Cemetery; 2930 Bennett Valley Road in Santa Rosa.
