Obituary of Hans Hoogendoorn
Hans was born in Rotterdam, Holland on November 28 1935. He passed peacefully at his home on February 06, 2018. He came to the states in 1953, through Ellis Island. He found odd jobs before joining the Army and fought in the Korean War. After the war, he made his way to San Francisco finding his first wife and joined the Hod carriers union Local 36 which would eventually lead him to entering the Boilermakers union Local 6, which merged to Local union 549. During his 60 years of service in the Boilermakers, he traveled all over California creating long lasting friendships. Upon retiring his favorite pass time was to fishing with his son at his favorite spot in Bodega Bay, and his daily walks on Spring Lake after tending to his garden. He was still actively involved with the Boilermakers going to the Bi-Monthly meetings and creating an impact on the younger generation. He is survived by hiiwchildren, Curtis Shelton (Denise), David H Hoogendoorn (Lori), and Marci Hoogendoorn; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and wife Rosa. Preceded in death by his first wife Aleda Phelps and his mother Elizabeth Reingger.
Private services were held. Interment at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, CA
