Obituary of Loren Kistner
Loren V. Kistner of Santa Rosa passed away after a brief illness on June 12, 2017, at age 81. Son of Loren T. Kistner and Evelyn Mary Blood Kistner. Survived by his wife of 56 years Lu Butcher Kistner, sister Lois Kistner Parmenter (George) of Cazadero, brother Cliff Butcher (Valerie) of Santa Rosa, several nieces and nephews and many close friends. Predeceased by his parents and sister Lorelei Kistner Johnson (James).
Loren, also known as Joe, graduated from Analy High School and served his country in the U. S. Air Force. He was a very proud Firefighter in the Santa Rosa Fire Department Local 1401 for 30 years and received the Firefighter of the Year award from the VFW in 1992. He loved to travel and his exceptional photography skills led him to collect unique and beautiful images from every corner of the world. He was a very creative sculptor who designed and built clever and meaningful objects of art and implements that improved his tool chest both at home and in the Fire Department. He could build anything. He loved boating, water skiing, dirt biking, challenging bike rides and a special love of cars. He has been a member of the local sports car club ESCA for over 50 years.
A Celebration of Life will be planned in the future. Internment at Santa Rosa Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Canine Companions for Independence, P.O. Box 446, Santa Rosa, CA 95402.
