Richard Bartholdy

Richard, 89 of Cloverdale, CA passed away December 16, 2017. Richard was born in Palo Alto, CA to Josephine Balbina Soleski and Albert Edward Bartholdy. He grew up in Olympia, WA. Richard graduated with a degree in business statistics from USF. Richard was a devoted patriot and served in the USMC, then during the Korean War he served in the USAF. Richard married the love of his life, Patricia Trood and moved to San Jose to start their family. They were happily married for 60 years. After Richard retired as Regional Sales Manager, with W.R. Grace Co., they moved to their dream home in Gualala “up-in-the-country”, a home they had been building - one room at a time - over 2 decades; driving 4 hours each way, on weekends, from San Jose. When Richard wasn’t building the house, or growing Christmas trees on the farm, or pulling out the dreaded weed, Scotch Broom…he was taking a Jeep ride to go hunting, fishing, or just looking at the beautiful scenery. Richard was a lifelong member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the NRA, Knights of Columbus, and he was actively involved with Saint Peters Catholic Church, helping every week.
Richard is survived by his wife, Patricia; children; Jeannie, Denise, Corinne (Davin), Mike (Teri); grandchildren; Brad, Patricia, Brianna, Jordan, Jessica; great grandchild; Isaac and other family and friends.
The memorial service will be held on January 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Eggen & Lance Chapel; 1540 Mendocino Avenue, Santa Rosa.
