"Top Sarge" Paul has reported to his next duty station. First Sergeant Paul A. Davis, USA, Ret., passed away on November 3, 2017, at 88 years. A true patriot, Paul's Army career spanned the Cold War, Korean War, and Vietnam War eras. Paul was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on April 10th, 1929. He graduated from Arsenal Tech High in 1948 and enlisted in the U.S. Army and was part of the Army Security Agency. He served tours of duty both at home and abroad, including assignments in the Philippines, Germany, Turkey and Vietnam. He retired from the Army at Two Rock in 1969. His post service career focused on banking, credit and retail, with a second retirement from Sears in 1992. He was an active bowler and golfer and Giants baseball fan, and loved to read about military history and watch movies about the Old West. He was a great dad and super husband. A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Paul has made his home in Santa Rosa since 1969.
His survivors include: wife of 47 years, Lydia Davis; son, Michael L. Davis (Jeanne); grandsons, Michael E. Davis and Brian P. Davis; sister, Lois Ann Smith; nephew and niece, Matthew Smith and Jennifer Smith Masten; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margery and Joseph Shoemaker.
A private burial service was held at Santa Rosa Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Pets Lifeline in Sonoma, California.
