George Ernest Parmeter, 85, passed away surrounded by family on October 18, 2017 at his home in Cazadero, California. He was born on August 12, 1932 to Bill and Laura (Cox) Parmeter in Santa Rosa and raised in Duncan Mills and Cazadero. George started 1st grade at the Watson School which was established by his paternal great-grandfathers. In 8th grade at Duncan Mill School he met fellow student, Lois Kistner who later became his wife for 65 years. George worked for Berrys Saw Mill for over 50 years driving a logging "CAT". He drove the tractor during most of the local forest fires in the 1950s until the 1990s. George liked to go fishing, hunting and camping with the family.
George is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margie; and sons, Jack D. (in 1952) and Clifford L. Parmeter (in 2006). He is survived by his wife, Lois; son, Will (Carrie) of Douglas City; son, Brady of Cazadero; brother, Fred (Barbara) of Cazadero; brother, Roy (Sharilynn) of Duncan Mills; sister, Lynn of Cazadero; grandsons, John (Mayria) and Brian (Sarah); and great grandchildren, Taylor, Dallas, Faye, Tamari, and Edith.
Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cazadero Volunteer Fire Department.
