Sarah (nee Zampatti) Morzenti passed away peacefully on August 25, 2016 in San Francisco at age 95. Sarah was born June 27, 1921 to Mary and Ben Zampatti in Santa Rosa, California. Sarah graduated from Lewis Grammar School and Santa Rosa High School. She married Gene in 1947 and they made their home in San Francisco living in their dearly loved apartment building on Green Street on Telegraph Hill where they were involved in local politics and community issues. Sarah and Gene were members of the Piemontese nel Mondo and strong supporters of the Italian Welfare Society (now Italian Community Services). Sarah volunteered at Sts. Peter and Paul Grammar School, helping in the cafeteria, working with the Mothers’ Club, driving the sisters when they needed transportation, helping with fundraisers, and much more. She was very involved with the Italian community, always helping the elderly with their shopping, doctor’s appointments and whatever else was needed. As a couple, Sarah and Gene moved to The San Francisco Towers on Pine Street, shortly after it was built. There they quickly became involved in The Towers community and made many new friends. In her last years she received kind and loving care from the Assisted Living staff, and caregivers, most importantly, Patchi and Rosie, Hermy and Cecilia. Their efforts are dearly appreciated by Sarah’s family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 58 years, Gene Morzenti. She is survived by her daughter Alida Morzenti. A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 7th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Eggen and Lance Chapel, 1540 Mendocino Avenue in Santa Rosa. Services will also be held at Eggen and Lance Chapel, Thursday Sept. 8 at 10:30 a.m., followed by burial at nearby Santa Rosa Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Sarah’s name to The Italian Community Services, 678 Green Street, San Francisco, CA 94133.
