Richard L. Lankford passed away on April 2, 2017 in Santa Rosa at 60 years of age. He was born in Princeton, West Virginia to Willard and Della Lankford. in 1958, Richard moved to Sonoma County. Between 1974-1978, he served in the United States Navy where he achieved the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class. Richard enjoyed working as a Streets Department Senior Maintenance Worker for the City of Santa Rosa Public Works Department for over 22 years. Richard was an avid ocean fisherman who enjoyed being out in Bodega Bay in his 19 ft. Bluewater boat. He also enjoyed hunting in the woods (which he euphemistically referred to as “camping with guns”), listening to ball games on the radio, fixing cars, riding dirt bikes and watching his grandchildren grow. Richard loved being with family and friends. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and he grew to love the Lord Jesus Christ as he realised His Grace and Mercy through a prolonged illness.
Richard is survived by his wife of over 40 years, De Lis; son Erich; son Robert and daughter by marriage Sheena and their children: Micah, Emma, Noah and Leah; and numerous beloved brothers and sisters and nephews and nieces.
A service honoring Richard’s memory and glorifying the Lord will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church of Sonoma County, 3360 Coffey Lane, Suite C in Santa Rosa.
