Mateo Milton Sarahina

Mateo Milton Sarahina also known as Matt or Milton, 52, of Santa Rosa, Ca. passed away on February 18, 2016 at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, Ca. Matt was born July 18, 1963 to Mateo Sarahina and Lorita Paakiki in Oahu, Hawaii but raised in Waialua, Hawaii. He was also raised by his step mother, Neves Galbiso. Matt joined the Army and served for 20 years as a W2 Instructor Pilot. He also worked at Saudi Arabia as a Contracted Instructor Pilot. His first civilian job in the EMS field was with REACH in Santa Rosa, Ca. When Matt would start working for a new company, it never took him long to move to the lead pilot position. Other employments were with Mercy Air, Life Flight, Tri State Care Flight, and his recent job was with Air Methods. Matt was proud to receive his promotion to Aviation Compliance Evaluator (A.C.E.). Flying was his passion, he called his helicopter his office. He enjoyed skiing, wakeboarding, sailing, being at the ocean, camping, hiking, anything outdoors, cooking for his family, loved photography, upgrading anything and everything he owned, and he loved to compete with anyone. In life, Matt excelled in everything he did. He was always a jokester, made people smile and laugh with no serious bone in his body. Early on in his life, his uncle Ed nicknamed him “clown”. Over the course of his life, he shared this personality with many. Surviving family members include his wife Lori A. Sarahina, mother Lorita, and step mother Neves. Step son Robert Newbold and his wife Yanira, daughter Chantel James and her husband David, and son Chad Sarahina. His siblings include Yvonne Cole and Jay, Annette Irwin, Jeanette Mertus and Stephen, Donna Miguel, Aaron Sarahina and Dolly, Byron Sarahina and Irene, and Mathew Sarahina and Melissa. Grandchildren include Malia Sarahina, Dylan James, and Azelia Newbold. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Matt loved to spend time with his family. There will be a Celebration of Life with full military honors and a fly by performed by REACH held in honor of Mateo (Matt) Milton Sarahina on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 1pm located at Wells Fargo Center of the Art, 50 Mark West Springs Rd., Santa Rosa, CA 95403.
