Larry went to meet his Savior on February 2, 2016, after a lengthy illness. He was born on January 15, 1949, in Yakima, Washington, to Noral and Zola Jefferson (both deceased). He is survived by his wife, Janet; sons, Bryan and Mark Jefferson; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Jeffferson; and three precious granddaughters, Kori, Tavie and Emma Jefferson. He is also survived by his brother, Gary Jefferson (Kathy); and sisters, Charlotte Maley (Dennis), Glenda Boyd (Wayne), Pat Hewitt (Roy); and sister-in-law, Nancy Shepherd (John). Larry’s family moved from Washington to Sacramento, California, and in 1965, his family moved to Santa Rosa. Larry graduated from Montgomery High School in 1967 and he married his high school sweetheart, Janet, in 1968. They met at 16, married at 18, and their amazing life together began. Larry worked for Superior Roofing, Alcal Roofing, and owned Jefferson Construction with his dad. They built many homes around Santa Rosa together. In 1987, he went to work for Waste Management and worked there until an accident ended his working life. Larry was a faithful member of Berean Baptist Church in Rohnert Park for 29 years and served as Chairman of the Deacon Board for many of those years. At his death, he was a Deacon Emeritus at Berean. His greatest joys in life were spending time with Bryan, Mark, Jennifer, Kori, Tavie and Emma. He was an amazing husband, dad, father-in-law, and grandpa. In fact, Grandpa, was his favorite name, and Kori, Tavie and Emma changed his life. He loved to work hard, whether it was for the church, friends or family. If anyone needed anything done, he was always the first to volunteer to help. He loved the years his family spent together houseboating and water skiing on Lake Shasta; the cruises and trips he and Janet were able to take; spending as much time as he could with his family, especially his granddaughters; and his Christmas decorations; whether it was Christmas lights on his homes and of late, his Christmas village. Anyone who knew Larry, knew how much joy that Christmas gave to him, because it was time for family to come together as one. If you knew Larry, he always seemed to have a little change laying around and was always checking the dates on them. Larry was a kind, generous, compassionate and a loving man. His sweet spirit and smile was infectious and he was able to inspire, mentor, and lead many through the love he had for life and for Christ. During the last seven years of his life, his son, Mark, was his caregiver during the day while Janet worked. Mark did an amazing job caring for his dad, taking him from appointment to appointment and acting as his driver for the past year. Larry appreciated so much Mark’s loving care. A memorial service will be held for Larry on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Berean Baptist Church, 6298 Country Club Drive, Rohnert Park, California. Santa Rosa Mortuary Eggen & Lance Chapel, 545-3747.
