Joseph W. Polich, loving husband and father, passed away on March 14th in Santa Rosa, age 86. Born in San Francisco and a graduate from Mission High School, Joe was later inducted into the San Francisco Prep Hall of Fame. Still today, Joe is considered one of the best fielders in the history of San Francisco prep baseball. A natural athlete, Joe excelled as short stop and played baseball for seven years in the New York Yankees organization including AAA level before being drafted by the US Army. Joe married his wife Lillian of 60 years in 1957 after starting his career as a San Francisco firefighter. Joe is survived by wife, Lillian; sons, Gary (Ann) and Donald; granddaughters, Katie and Kelly; brother, Stanley (Gloria); nephews, Rick and Bob; and family.
Visitation on Monday, March 27th in Santa Rosa at Eggen & Lance at 9:00 AM; St. Rose Catholic Church at 10:30; burial at Santa Rosa Memorial Park. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
