Joaquin “Wakeen” Cordova

Joaquin “Wakeen” Cordova born on July 4, 1951 to Carmelita Cordova entered into heaven on September 4, 2016. He is survived by his wife Janice, daughter Nicole (Jason), and son Joaquin (Ilse); his grandchildren Desirae, Jimmy, Jazmine, Jason, Julian, Junior, Izabella, Julene and Anthony; his great granddaughters Aunia and Alizae; sister Rosie, brother David; aunts Salvina, Thelma, Gloria and Cynthia; and uncle George; best friend David and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Joaquin was a member of the Dry Creek Rancheria band of Pomo Indians. He was an active member of AA for the past 25 years. A proud member of the newly founded Santa Rosa Red Road Group of men who have become a major part of his journey over the past two years. Joaquin was very proud of his native heritage and found peace in the music, dancing and drumming. He will be missed here on earth by all of those that loved him. Joaquin will be reunited in his next journey with his son Tommy and all of those who have gone before him. His celebration has begun in Heaven as those he loved once again surround him. We will miss you Dancing Bear!!! A funeral service will be held at Eggen & Lance Chapel; 1540 Mendocino Avenue, Santa Rosa on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Following an interment at Santa Rosa Memorial Park – Shiloh Annex; 1750 Shiloh Road, Windsor.
