Harold William Jensen, at age 86, passed away peacefully at home in Santa Rosa, Thursday, October 6th, as a result of kidney failure. Harold was one of 5 children. He was born in Johnson County, Iowa on December 10, 1929, the oldest son of John Christian Jensen and Esther Fredericka Stock. He served in the Air Force from 1948 to 1952 during the Korean War. While stationed at Hamilton Air Force Base he met Jean Elsie Tam in Santa Rosa at the Midway Dance Hall where Jean attended dances with her family. They married January 7, 1951. His many jobs after his military service beyond husband and father included: contractor, bookkeeper, business owner, inventor, and humanitarian. Harold was a current member of the American Legion and past member of the Roseland Lions Club, Odd Fellows Lodge, and Exchange Club. If Harold didn’t know how to do something he researched it, found resources, and continued on. His greatest desire beyond the care of his family was to turn deserts back into forests. He developed a product to help him put that desire into action in many Middle Eastern regions of the world, parts of the African continent, and the United States. He was referred to in some countries as “Mr. Driwater.” Setbacks, health or life in general, did not defeat him. His perseverance, guidance, and advice will always be remembered by his family and others who knew him.
Harold was preceded in death by two sisters: Ruth Klinkkammer and Doris Potter; his younger brother, Howard Jensen, and one niece, Penny Blakley. Harold is survived by his wife Jean Elsie Jensen, three daughters: Jeanne Esther-Seiberlich Andrews (Stuart), Joan Christine Jensen (Jean Downing), and Judith Lynn Merrill; three granddaughters: Lynea Jean Seiberlich Wheeler (Jonathan), Liana Lynn Merrill (Marty McCarthy), and Lindsey Kristina Merrill; and three grandsons: James Christian Seiberlich, Jonathan William Seiberlich , and Taylor William Merrill (Marc Hughes); first great grandson Chase William McCarthy; his youngest sister Alice Marie Kelp (Alfred); and many family members in Iowa and California.
