Evelyn was born in Oakland, California and moved with her family in 1930 to Santa Rosa. She was the youngest of three children. They had two daughters, Glenda and Marilyn in Santa Rosa in the house they built together in 1946 where she lived until her last month. She finished her life peacefully at her granddaughter, Bunny’s home surrounded by love, light, and company.
Evelyn was known for her spark and determination. She was a wonderful gardener and loved to bake, sew and care for her grandchildren. She always made a point to attend all of her old high school reunions enjoying the company and stories. As Evelyn aged, she also spent much time with her caregiver/companion Billie Montes de Oca and the Senior Center.
Her family is very thankful for all of the wonderful care she received by her Kaiser doctors, nurses, and support staff. Additionally, a tremendous appreciation for the Memorial Hospice team who guided her in her last days.
Per her request, there will be no formal funeral service. There will be an opportunity to pay last respects graveside on April 13th from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a private family burial at Santa Rosa Memorial Park. Flowers should be directed to Santa Rosa Memorial Park; 1900 Franklin Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA 95404.
