Coleen, 87, passed away at her home in Santa Rosa on July 31, 2016 following a brief but difficult struggle with cancer. She passed peacefully with her loving husband of 65 years, Paul; her children, Carl and Chris, and their spouses; and her adopted daughter, Gail, by her side. She is also survived by her half brother, Bill; her grandchildren, Brad and his wife, Sarah, Scott, and Jill; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and friends who have showered her with love and attention in her final weeks. Coleen was born in Camas, WA on January 11, 1929 to Aunabelle and Ira Frantz and was later raised by her mother, Ann, and her adopted father Ernie Handt. After graduating from High School in Anderson, CA, she went to nursing school in Santa Rosa and met Paul. Shortly after they were married, they moved to their home on Yuba Drive. Coleen worked as a Registered Nurse for a number of years and then became a full-time super mom, as well as, a skilled business manager of Paul’s pipeline construction and water service companies. The True Source of Beauty is measured by the light within our hearts. That being said, Coleen’s heart was a lighthouse to so many. One of her greatest joys was putting on a big Thanksgiving dinner at her home. She always jumped at any opportunity to spend time with her friends and family. A chapel service will be held at Santa Rosa Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, August 6th at 10:00 a.m. followed by a private interment. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to the American Cancer Society or the SPCA in memory of Coleen.
